Self Proclaimed Foodie

I love good food and and good wine.  I don't want to give up good food and good wine.  Hence the problem...there is not an easy road ahead of me to this whole 'weight loss' thing.  I have decided I don't want to give up the things that taste soooo good to me, so I decided to trick my brain.

You've heard of 'eat this..not that'.  Well, I plan to do that, in my own way...stay tuned to my favorites substituted throughout this blog.

While I am on the subject of favorites...let me name a few of my favorites (in no particular order):
  • Trader Joe Bolognese sauce and pasta (I could drink this out of the jar)
  • Thin crust pizza (Cheese, Margherita, Pepperoni, Mushroom..doesn't even matter...love it all)
  • Wine (Merlot and Malbec)
  • Lays Classic Potato chips (but I have successfully weened myself off of potato chips and can't remember the last time I had any)
  • Lasagna
  • Pasta, pasta, and more pasta!

  1. Bolognese Sauce:
    peeled tomatoes
    ground beef
    fresh pork sausage
    1 cup red Chianti wine
    salt
    1 carrot
    1 celery
    1 red onion
    olive oil

heat oil in a large non-stick pan and brown the chopped carrot, celery and red onion for 5 minutes. Add the ground beef and pork sausage and fry it until it has browned, for about 10 minutes, stirring the sauce constantly (no lid). Pour in the wine and boil for 5 minutes. Reduce the heat and add tomatoes, salt and simmer over a gentle heat for 40 minutes, stirring occasionally and mashing the tomatoes.
